Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has said the Congress government in the State implemented five guarantee schemes that benefited the public directly without the intervention of any middlemen and provided relief for many people by addressing issues in obtaining land records. Speaking at Channarayapatna in Hassan district after a bhoomi puja for the construction of a Congress party office, Mr. Byregowda said all five pre-election guarantees had been fulfilled. “The benefit reaches the needy directly — no one needs to approach any individual or intermediary. The amount is credited straight to the beneficiary’s account. No other State government in the country has implemented such schemes as effectively as Karnataka’s Congress government,” he said. He acknowledged, however, that the party had fallen short in communicating its achievements to the public. Regarding this department, Mr. Byre Gowda said thousands of people who had received land grants decades ago lacked proper documentation. Since the Congress government came to power, he said, the department had expedited the podi (land sub-division) process, bringing relief to a large number of landowners. Appealing to party workers to contribute to the construction of the new office, Mr. Byre Gowda said the building should be a collective effort. “The office could be built by a few who hold positions in the party, but it becomes an asset of the entire Congress family when everyone chips in. I urge every worker to contribute at least ₹100,” he said. Member of Parliament Shreyas Patel, former MLC M.A. Gopalaswamy and other leaders of the party were present.
