A religious conversion case in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh, has escalated tensions, leading to police action. An FIR was filed against ten individuals, including seven family members and three clerics, following a complaint by Devaraj Malik, a medical store owner. Malik accused the group of coercing his son, Ayush Malik, into converting to Islam through a relationship with Chandni Qureshi. The complaint alleges that the accused exerted psychological pressure, made threats, and sought control over family property. In response to the situation, Swami Yashveer Maharaj of the Yog Sadhana Ashram announced a Hindu Mahapanchayat scheduled for June 12, calling for a gathering to protest against what he termed 'conversion jihad.' He urged local farmers and traders to support the protest, emphasizing the need for collective strength within the Hindu community. Police have begun investigations and are conducting raids to locate the accused, although specific sections of law under which the FIR was registered have not been disclosed.
