Discussing her experience on The New York Times’ Popcast podcast, Hathaway revealed that she suffered from this condition between the ages of 30 and 40. Cataracts, commonly associated with aging, can also develop earlier due to genetics, trauma, or prolonged UV exposure. Hathaway described her vision as severely impaired, stating, 'I was half blind for 10 years.' After undergoing surgery, she realized how significantly her condition had impacted her life, noting that the strain from poor vision had unknowingly increased her stress levels.
