Michelin has announced the launch of its first restaurant guide for New Zealand, set for June 30 at a cocktail function in Auckland's International Convention Centre. The event will host around 300 guests, including notable chefs like Nobu Lee from Taipei and Michael Cimarusti from Los Angeles. This launch follows a partnership between Tourism New Zealand and Michelin, which involves a $6.3 million investment over three years to cover major cities such as Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Queenstown. The ceremony will reveal whether local restaurants receive one, two, or three-star ratings, alongside Bib Gourmand distinctions for exceptional quality and value. Michelin's international director, Gwendal Poullennec, highlighted the impressive diversity and quality of New Zealand's culinary offerings following nearly a year of inspections. The event will be livestreamed, with the award ceremony scheduled from 5-6:30 PM.
