At 35 years old, I embarked on a nostalgic journey by purchasing my first iPod, a 5th-generation iPod Classic from 2005, for ₱2,500. This purchase was inspired by a growing trend among younger generations seeking to escape the overwhelming nature of smartphones and algorithms. The sound quality of the iPod, especially when paired with Apple EarPods, is notably superior to that of smartphones, providing a richer listening experience. Listening to music by album, rather than through curated playlists, allows for a deeper appreciation of the music. Despite the convenience of streaming services, which allow instant access to new releases, the iPod offers a unique, analog experience that many are rediscovering. While my iPod has some wear and tear, its charm remains, and the resurgence of interest in such devices hints at a possible comeback in the music industry, as more people seek to embrace a more intentional approach to music consumption.
