On Wednesday, the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation in Maharashtra demolished illegal constructions at properties owned by AIMIM corporator Matin Patel. Patel is under scrutiny for allegedly harboring Nida Khan, who was arrested on May 7 for her involvement in cases of sexual harassment and religious conversion at a Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) unit in Nashik. Following a notice issued on May 9, which required Patel to clarify the legality of his constructions within 72 hours, the civic body proceeded with the demolition after he failed to respond. The operation was conducted under police protection. Former AIMIM MP Imtiaz Jaleel met with Patel's family, expressing concern over the municipal corporation's haste and promising to support Patel's family in rebuilding. Mayor Sameer Rajurkar stated that steps would be taken to cancel Patel's corporatorship if illegalities are confirmed. Meanwhile, TCS has reiterated its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against harassment, following the suspension of employees involved in the allegations against Khan.
