Manipur Home Minister Konthoujam Govindas Singh recently reviewed border security and ongoing fencing efforts along the 398-km India-Myanmar border, which affects five districts: Churachandpur, Tengnoupal, Chandel, Kamjong, and Ukhrul. The meeting emphasized the need to strengthen border security and enhance coordination among various agencies involved. Singh expressed a commitment to ensuring peace and development in Manipur through collaborative efforts. Officials were directed to expedite fencing work and improve infrastructure in border areas. The meeting also included Deputy Commissioners from several districts and representatives from the Border Roads Organisation, the Border Roads Task Force, and the Assam Rifles. Additionally, the state government plans to develop 143 villages along the border under the Vibrant Villages Programme–II, focusing on improving infrastructure and livelihood opportunities.
