The Sydney Sixers have appointed James Hopes as their new Big Bash League (BBL) coach, replacing Greg Shipperd, who was dismissed despite leading the team to the BBL final in January. Hopes, aged 47, brings a wealth of experience as a bowling coach in various T20 leagues, including the IPL and BBL, and has worked with teams in Australia's domestic circuit. He has a notable playing background, having represented Australia in 84 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 12 T20 Internationals (T20Is), as well as captaining Queensland to several titles. Hopes expressed his honor in joining the Sixers, a club known for its strong identity and connection with fans, and he looks forward to working with the talented squad. General manager Rachael Haynes highlighted Hopes' exceptional cricket acumen and his proven ability to develop players and foster high-performing environments.
