In Mysuru district, the Department of Labour has intensified efforts to combat the underpayment of adolescent labourers, resulting in the booking of 107 employers. These employers were found to be violating the Child and Adolescent Labour Act and the Minimum Wages Act by failing to pay the legally mandated minimum wages. As a consequence of these actions, authorities recovered ₹3.8 lakh in penalties. Over the past three years, officials have conducted raids at 4,351 workplaces, including industries, hotels, and manufacturing units, rescuing eight child labourers aged below 14. These children have been rehabilitated, and actions have been recommended against their employers. District Labour Officer Chethan Kumar emphasized the department's commitment to regularly conducting raids and penalizing offenders. The collected penalties will be utilized for the rehabilitation of affected adolescent workers.
