Kedarnath Dham, a revered Hindu pilgrimage site in Rudraprayag district, Uttarakhand, India, has experienced a remarkable influx of over 90,000 pilgrims within the first three days of its reopening on April 22, 2023. On the first day, 38,000 devotees performed ‘darshan’, followed by 25,000 on the second day, and more than 30,000 on the third day. The Rudraprayag Superintendent of Police, Niharika Tomar, noted the heavy enthusiasm among devotees and emphasized the implementation of strict security measures to manage the large crowds. Central paramilitary forces, along with police personnel, are deployed to ensure safety, while teams from the fire service and disaster response forces remain on standby for emergencies. District Magistrate Vishal Mishra, along with the SP, conducted inspections of the temple premises to guarantee a smooth experience for the pilgrims, advising them to rely on official channels for travel updates.
