C Joseph Vijay, an iconic actor turned politician, was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 10 after his party, the Tamil Nadu Thalapathi Katchi (TVK), achieved a surprising victory against established parties, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). Tota Roy Chowdhury, a Bengali actor, reflected on his experience working with Vijay during the 2013 film 'Kaththi', where he delivered a long dialogue in one take, impressing the crew. After the shoot, Tota was pleasantly surprised when Vijay's secretary called him for a chat. During their conversation, Vijay expressed his admiration for Tota's work and offered him coffee, showcasing his humility and approachability. Tota recalled that film assistants had predicted Vijay's future as a political leader, stating, 'He is the future CM of our state!' This prediction has come true as Vijay now leads the state. Following the formation of TVK in February 2024, Vijay announced his candidacy for the 2026 elections, emphasizing his intention to remain independent from alliances with other parties. His latest film, 'Jana Nayagan', is pending certification, causing delays since January.
