Ludhiana's Leisure Valley, once a thriving urban oasis, has transformed into a neglected area resembling a jungle, prompting residents to demand immediate restoration of the Dugri-Pakhowal Road green belt. The green space, which previously boasted trees, grass, swings, and benches, is now overgrown, with many amenities hidden under thick bushes and missing streetlights. Local residents, including Narinder Singh Masson and Asha Sharma, have expressed their outrage over the deterioration, emphasizing that the park's neglect represents a waste of public funds invested in its initial development. They argue that proper maintenance is crucial for enhancing air quality and providing clean recreational spaces. Municipal officials have attributed the park's poor condition to an NGO responsible for its upkeep, warning that they may revoke this responsibility due to inadequate performance. Additionally, they acknowledged a severe manpower shortage within the horticulture department, which hampers effective management of the city's green belts.
