The Madhya Pradesh High Court has revoked the anticipatory bail of Giribala Singh, the mother-in-law of Twisha Sharma, in connection with her death case. This decision overturns a previous bail granted on May 15 by the 10th Additional Sessions Judge in Bhopal. Singh faces serious allegations under the newly enacted Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, including charges of dowry death and cruelty towards a woman, as well as violations of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961. With the bail quashed, law enforcement is now authorized to proceed with necessary actions, including potential custodial interrogation. The court's decision follows an expedited process regarding the case, with a hearing scheduled for May 27. Additionally, the Supreme Court has instructed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the investigation, ensuring a centralized inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Twisha Sharma's death. Sharma, a 33-year-old former Miss Pune, was discovered dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal's Katara Hills area on May 12, with her family alleging that she suffered mental and physical abuse related to dowry demands.
