According to CEO Dr. Bikesh Verma, the company aims to manufacture gene therapies in as little as one day, a significant improvement over the typical weeks or months required. This reduction is attributed to technological advancements that have lowered manufacturing costs by approximately 70%. MedTherapy is focused on creating a platform technology that supports various global partners in gene therapy development, rather than concentrating on a single product. The company is currently researching therapies for blood cancers and solid tumors, particularly expanding CAR-T therapy applications. Verma explained that the high costs associated with gene therapy stem from intensive research, complex manufacturing processes, and a lack of mass production capabilities. He also noted that a shortage of skilled workers in both India and the US poses challenges for scaling production. MedTherapy's innovative approach aims to position India as a global manufacturing hub for gene therapies through international collaborations.
