Marvin Vettori, a veteran middleweight fighter and former UFC title challenger, has announced his withdrawal from the upcoming UFC Fight Night in Baku, scheduled for June 27. Vettori was set to face Ismail Naurdiev but revealed on Instagram that he suffered a broken rib during training. In his message, Vettori stated, "Unfortunately, I am here to tell you that a few days ago I got hurt on my rib. I did an MRI and it came back today showing that the rib is broken. So I won’t be fighting on June 27." This fight was critical for Vettori, who has struggled in recent years, winning only one of his last seven matches since losing to Israel Adesanya for the middleweight title at UFC 263 in 2021. He expressed disappointment over the injury but is focusing on recovery, aiming to return to training within four to six weeks. The Baku event will still feature a lightweight main event between Rafael Fiziev and Manuel Torres, alongside other notable fighters, but Vettori's absence leaves a significant gap in the lineup.
