Pensioners and family pensioners receiving benefits under the National Pension System (NPS) will now have their Fixed Medical Allowance (FMA) credited directly to their pension disbursing bank accounts, as per an office memorandum from the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, dated April 16, 2026. This significant change eliminates the need for pensioners to submit bills or claims, streamlining the process of receiving FMA. The amount will be credited quarterly at rates determined by the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoP&PW). However, pensioners must submit an annual life certificate in November to continue receiving the FMA. Payments for FMA covering the period from September to November will be made in the first week of December. In the event of a pensioner's death, eligible family members can apply for FMA, provided they follow the necessary procedures outlined in the memorandum. If a pensioner changes their bank or branch, they must adhere to specific procedures for the transfer of their FMA payments.
