In a tragic incident, Selva Sekar, a 41-year-old software professional from Kundrathur, Chennai, died by suicide at his home on Thursday night. His family found him unresponsive after he failed to answer their calls. Police reported that Sekar had taken out several loans from banks and private lenders to build a new house but was struggling to keep up with the equated monthly installments (EMIs) and interest payments. This financial strain reportedly led him to take this drastic step. Following the discovery, the Kundrathur police sent his body to Tambaram Government Hospital for a postmortem. A case has been registered, and investigations are ongoing to determine if there were any other underlying issues contributing to his death. Authorities are also emphasizing the availability of support for individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts, directing them to Tamil Nadu's health helpline at 104 and Sneha's suicide prevention helpline at 044-24640050.
