From Eleceed to Stellar Swordmaster and Hardcore Leveling Warrior, Webtoon has many exciting action fantasy titles coming our way as anime adaptations in the near future. There are also still many more like Gosu, Teenage Mercenary, Hero Killer, and The Boxer that have yet to lock down a release date, but have fans eagerly lying in wait. All that said, Webtoon's most highly anticipated anime adaptation is easily Omniscient Reader, which, according to recent reports, could be looking at a 2027 release. If so, now's the best time to catch up on Omniscient Reader, and better yet, not just the webtoon, but also the web novel. Omniscient Reader's Webtoon Just Wrapped Up Its First Season And Now's the Perfect Time to Binge It As per a recent announcement in Chapter #309, Omniscient Reader's webtoon has concluded its first season with Chapter #311. The series will henceforth be going on hiatus before returning with Season 2. This marks the series' first-ever hiatus in six whole years since the webtoon was released back in May 2020. Chapter #311 has already been released on Naver Webtoon, and the official English release is set to drop on Tuesday, May 26. The season finale was accompanied by messages from singNsong, the authors of the webnovel, as well as Umi and Sleepy-C, who handle the webtoon adaptation and illustration, respectively. It has yet to be confirmed when Omniscient Reader will return with Season 2, though manhwa seasonal breaks typically last anywhere between four to six months. This means those new to the series have the perfect opportunity to dive into the series while existing fans have plenty of time to get a refresher on the series with a full re-read ahead of Season 2, as well as Omniscient Reader's anime debut in 2027. Or, instead, now could also be the perfect time to dive into Omniscient Reader's excellent web novel. Omniscient Reader's Web Novel Is A Must-Read Before the Anime Drops With Chapter #311, Omniscient Reader's webtoon has adapted about 49 percent of the original web novel, not including the side stories. The web novel's main story spans a total of 551 chapters—1019 and counting, with the side stories included. Clearly, as great as the webtoon may be, Omniscient Reader's web novel offers a much more comprehensive story, with greater insight and detail that make it a must-read. Moreover, Omniscient Reader's webtoon also ends Season 1 on a rather awkward cliffhanger. The Demon King Selection Arc is far from over, and fans may just need to turn to the web novel to satiate their curiosity until the webtoon returns. Chapter #311 of the webtoon adapts the web novel up to Chapter #271, and the Demon King Selection Arc concludes with Chapter #278, which means there isn't much to catch up on to get to the grand conclusion of the arc. All that said, perhaps the biggest reason to read up on the web novel is the upcoming anime, which could very well draw from both the webtoon and the web novel, much like Solo Leveling did. And, luckily enough, Omniscient Reader's web novel is easier to read now than ever before, especially for English readers. Ize Press offers an excellent localization with a collector-worthy physical release. Volume 4 of the Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint web novel is set to hit shelves on July 21, with Volume 5 expected on November 17, 2026, and there's no better time than right now to grab them.
