Eid al-Adha, also known as Bakrid, was celebrated on Thursday across Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, and Chamarajanagar districts, with thousands participating in mass prayers. The central gathering took place at the Eidgah maidan in Tilak Nagar, Mysuru, where attendees engaged in prayers and community bonding. Over 30 prayer locations were established throughout Mysuru city, including areas such as Rajeev Nagar and Ghousia Nagar. Islamic leader Mohammed Usman Sharieff addressed the crowd, emphasizing the festival's theme of sacrifice, which commemorates the devotion of Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim to Allah. Children donned new attire, contributing to the festive atmosphere as families exchanged greetings and shared wishes. Local political figures, including KPCC Spokesman M Lakshmana and former MCC member Suhail Baig, were present at the prayers. To facilitate the event, police enforced strict security protocols and implemented traffic diversions in various areas, ensuring a safe celebration for all participants.
