Scarlets have announced the appointment of Eamon O'Carroll as their new defence coach, effective after the conclusion of the Super League season. The 38-year-old former Ireland international joins from St Helens, bringing a wealth of coaching experience from previous roles at Bradford Bulls and Newcastle Thunder, as well as serving as an assistant coach at Catalans Dragons. O'Carroll expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity, highlighting Scarlets' significant history and the strong connection it has with its supporters in west Wales. His responsibilities will include enhancing the team's defensive organisation and systems, while also collaborating closely with players and staff to elevate the overall performance standards. Interim director of rugby Nigel Davies noted that defence extends beyond tactics, emphasizing the need for attitude, commitment, and trust on the field.
