Soma Mandal, a dedicated science teacher at GD Goenka Public School in Delhi, has been awarded the South Asia regional title of the Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Awards 2026. This recognition highlights her significant contributions to climate education and her ability to empower students in the fight against climate change. With over 10 years of teaching experience and a master's degree in environmental science, Mandal has developed a climate-focused curriculum that connects sustainability education to real-world challenges. She believes that when students understand the climate crisis, they can realize their potential to effect change. As part of her award, Mandal will receive £500 worth of books for her class and a trophy, along with international recognition in Cambridge publications. The awards attracted over 12,000 nominations from 126 countries, showcasing educators who excel in promoting student well-being and development. Public voting is now open to select the overall global winner, which will conclude on May 13, 2026, with the announcement set for June 2, 2026.
