Aman Kumar Paswan, the newly elected councillor for Ward No. 46 from the Indian National Congress (INC) in Mohali, has been summoned by the district administration due to allegations made by Sarabjeet Singh, a candidate from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Singh claims that Paswan contested the municipal elections using an invalid Scheduled Caste (SC) certificate and possesses voter IDs from both Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, and Mohali, Punjab. Following a complaint that was forwarded by a tehsildar, both the tehsildar and patwari confirmed they did not attest to Paswan's SC certificate. In response, Paswan has labeled the allegations as baseless and politically motivated, asserting his legitimacy in using his Punjab address. He acknowledges his father's voter registration in Ballia but insists he has lived in Punjab for years. The issue revolves around the validity of his SC certificate for eligibility in Punjab's reserved electoral seats. The administration has not yet recorded any findings, and the situation will be addressed when Paswan submits his response on June 5.
