Starting April 20, all neurology and neurosurgery outpatient services at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh will move to the newly constructed Advanced Neuroscience Centre. This facility, built at a cost of ₹490 crore, aims to enhance patient care and reduce congestion in existing OPD services.

Beginning April 20, 2023, the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh will relocate all neurology and neurosurgery outpatient department (OPD) services to the newly established Advanced Neuroscience Centre (ANC). This 300-bed facility, constructed at a cost of ₹490 crore, is situated next to the Gol market and is accessible from Gate No 3. The decision to move aims to alleviate congestion at the current OPD, which handles nearly 10,000 patients daily, including over 1,000 for neurology and neurosurgery alone. PGIMER director Prof Vivek Lal emphasized that this transition represents a significant improvement in neurological care, enhancing patient experience through integrated services. OPD services at the existing New OPD building will cease on Saturday afternoon to facilitate the move. The ANC will be officially inaugurated by Union Health Minister JP Nadda on April 30, 2023.
