On Sunday, Jammu and Kashmir's Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan' padyatra in Poonch, aimed at combating drug abuse through community involvement and awareness. Sinha stressed the importance of collective action, stating that a great society is built by those who stand against societal evils, even if they are not personally affected. He noted that efforts are underway to dismantle the drug supply chain and emphasized the administration's commitment to rehabilitating individuals affected by drug abuse with compassion. The padyatra, which saw participation from students, youth, and civil society members, is part of a broader initiative to tackle drug addiction across the Union Territory. This campaign follows a similar padyatra in Baramulla, reinforcing the message of community-led efforts to combat narcotics and urging young people to avoid substance use. The administration aims to combine strict action against drug traffickers with awareness and rehabilitation initiatives, marking a significant step in the ongoing fight against drug abuse in Jammu and Kashmir.
