This incident marks her first whereabouts failure in the past year. The ITA's communication, dated May 4, 2026, indicates that Vinesh failed to update her whereabouts information promptly, despite being in Chandigarh for legislative duties. Athletes are required to provide a daily one-hour window for surprise testing, and any combination of three missed tests within a year can lead to significant penalties, including a suspension of up to two years. Vinesh has been given seven days to contest the notice if she believes the missed test was not due to negligence. This development comes just months after her return to competitive wrestling following a retirement period after the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she faced disqualification for being overweight. The National Open Ranking tournament in Gonda will be her first competition since her comeback.
