In Kanpur's Kidwai Nagar area, a 45-year-old medical representative has been arrested for allegedly murdering his 11-year-old twin daughters by slitting their throats. The father called the police himself around 4:30 am on Sunday to report the crime. Upon arrival, police found the girls' bodies on the bedroom floor with a blood-soaked knife nearby. Investigators noted that the bed appeared unused, suggesting the children may have been smothered before the fatal attack. The twins were students at Mother Teresa School, located directly opposite their apartment. Their mother was in another part of the flat with their six-year-old brother and was unaware of the incident until police arrived. DCP Deependra Nath Chaudhary indicated that no clear motive has been established, but investigators are exploring the father's mental health, particularly following the death of his mother a few months prior. The accused had reportedly expressed suicidal thoughts and had installed CCTV cameras throughout the home, keeping his wife under constant surveillance. A significant quantity of medications was found in his room, raising questions about whether he sedated the twins prior to the attack.
