And it will live on, always.” Asha Bhosle, who passed away on April 12, 2023, was one of the most influential playback singers in India, known for her work in various languages, including Hindi and Punjabi. She began her career in 1943 and was celebrated for iconic songs like ‘Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko’. Following her passing, she received a guard of honor at her residence in Lower Parel, Mumbai, before her cremation at Shivaji Park, attended by numerous Bollywood celebrities and political leaders. Bhosle was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008, marking her significant contributions to Indian music.
