This closure will result in the layoffs of 160 workers, as indicated in a WARN notice filed with state officials. The decision follows the termination of Parkhurst's contract with the college, which the company was notified about on April 27. The layoffs are expected to occur between May 21 and June 3, with some management-level employees facing separations extending until July 3. The largest groups affected include 43 cooks, 22 cashiers, and 18 dishwashers. Parkhurst has stated that all impacted employees have been notified of their permanent separations and will not have bumping rights, meaning they cannot replace less senior employees in their roles. This closure marks a significant impact on the local workforce as various positions, including bakers and catering staff, will be eliminated alongside the dining services at the college.
