The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has introduced a mobile application called 'KEA Connect' to facilitate the seat selection process for medical and engineering courses. This initiative aims to provide students and their parents with reliable mentorship during the selection phase. Registered mentors, comprising faculty members and students who secured seats through the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) in 2025, will offer guidance free of charge. This move comes in response to complaints about private companies and influencers who misled students and charged exorbitant fees for mentorship services. So far, 4,500 students have registered as mentors, each assigned to assist two students. The app displays five available mentors for each student, providing details about their courses and colleges. Students can select their preferred mentor, ensuring gender-specific assignments for personalized support. Communication through the app includes chat options and phone calls if necessary. The KEA emphasizes that mentors must declare their voluntary role and refrain from promoting any institutions, ensuring a focus on genuine assistance without financial motives.
