R Mukundan, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Chemicals, has been elected as the president of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the term 2026-27, succeeding Rajiv Memani. Dr. Suchitra K Ella and Shashwat Goenka have been appointed as president-designate and vice-president, respectively.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has elected R Mukundan, the Managing Director and CEO of Tata Chemicals, as its president for the term 2026-27, succeeding Rajiv Memani. Mukundan, who joined the Tata Administrative Service in 1990, has over 30 years of experience across the chemical, automotive, and hospitality sectors within the Tata Group. He holds an MBA from the Faculty of Management Studies at Delhi University and has been recognized with an honorary doctorate from XIM University, Bhubaneswar. Alongside Mukundan, Dr. Suchitra K Ella, co-founder and managing director of Bharat Biotech International Ltd, has been elected as president-designate, while Shashwat Goenka, vice-chairman of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, will serve as vice-president. Ella, who co-founded Bharat Biotech in 1996, was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2022 for her contributions to the field. Goenka, recognized as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2024, has previously chaired CII's Eastern Regional Council.
