Kuwait has enacted a ban on delivery motorcycles operating on roads during peak summer heat hours, specifically from 11am to 4pm daily, effective from June 1 to August 31. This initiative aims to protect workers from extreme temperatures, coinciding with the country's annual midday work ban that prohibits outdoor labor during the hottest hours. The Interior Ministry's General Traffic Department has mandated compliance from delivery companies and riders, warning of penalties for violations. Kuwait is known for its severe summer heat, with temperatures often exceeding 50°C. In response, the government has intensified measures to safeguard outdoor workers, including stricter enforcement of heat protection regulations and awareness campaigns. Additionally, the Civil Service Council has approved a reduction in official working hours for government entities to six hours daily during the summer months, aimed at reducing electricity consumption and supporting the national power grid's stability. This decision reflects a broader commitment to worker safety and health amidst challenging climatic conditions.
