Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the Vande Bullet prototype will be rolled out in 2027, with production expected to begin in the latter half of the year. This initiative is part of India's push towards self-reliance in high-speed rail technology, with the Vande Bullet designed collaboratively by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) and BEML at the newly inaugurated Aditya manufacturing facility. In addition to the Vande Bullet, a new Vande Sleeper service is set to operate between Bengaluru and Mumbai, following the successful launch of the first Vande Sleeper service connecting Kamakhya in Guwahati, Assam, to Howrah in Kolkata, West Bengal, in January 2026. Vaishnaw emphasized the importance of the Bengaluru Suburban train project, which faced delays due to initial resistance from the Congress party-led state government regarding key appointments. He also highlighted the expected reduction in travel time between Chennai and Bengaluru to just 73 minutes, effectively integrating the two cities into a single hub.
