On Sunday, the Bihar Orthopaedic Association (BOA) hosted a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program in Patna, focusing on advancements in orthopaedic rheumatology. Over 100 orthopaedic surgeons gathered to discuss critical topics such as arthritis management, early diagnosis, and surgical interventions. BOA president Dr. Amulya Kumar Singh highlighted the necessity of timely and structured treatment protocols to prevent long-term joint damage and enhance patients' quality of life. The program included scientific sessions covering various aspects of rheumatology, with experts like Dr. S S Jha discussing treatment options for inflammatory polyarthritis, and Dr. Amar Kumar Singh addressing the role of radiology in early detection of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Other specialists presented on updated diagnostic criteria for spondyloarthritis and management protocols for juvenile idiopathic arthritis. The surgical segment tackled challenges in RA cases, including foot deformities and shoulder replacement outcomes. The event concluded with an interactive panel discussion emphasizing the importance of integrating medical rheumatology and orthopaedic surgery to improve patient care.
