Apple is reportedly working on a new security feature for iPhones aimed at enhancing anti-theft measures. This feature will automatically lock the device if it detects that it has been stolen or snatched from the user. While Apple has previously introduced various security measures like Find My iPhone and Activation Lock, these can be bypassed if a thief grabs an unlocked phone. The upcoming feature is expected to function similarly to Android's Theft Detection Lock, utilizing multiple sensors such as accelerometers to detect sudden shifts in movement. Once suspicious activity is confirmed, the iPhone will lock itself automatically. Additionally, the feature will interact with an Apple Watch to determine how far the device has moved from its owner. It will also employ the same criteria as the Stolen Device Protection, checking for connections to familiar Wi-Fi networks or locations. If the iPhone is detected in an unfamiliar area, it will lock and restrict access to sensitive information. Currently, there is no official announcement regarding the release date of this feature.
