Chaos erupted at the SSC GD Constable examination centre in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, when nearly double the number of candidates were allotted seats, leading to the cancellation of both exam shifts. The Shrimati Ramkali Iqbal Bahadur Online Centre had a seating capacity of 399, but 819 admit cards were issued for each shift. As a result, overcrowding and confusion ensued when around 350 candidates had already taken their seats. Protests erupted outside the venue, with some candidates attempting to block the Kanpur-Prayagraj National Highway. Police intervened to maintain order, confirming that the situation was brought under control without violence. The SSC has promised to inform candidates of new examination dates via email and its official website. This incident has raised significant concerns regarding the management and logistical arrangements for large-scale recruitment examinations across India.
