Leica is set to unveil its new full-frame camera, the SL3-P, in June 2026, featuring a 44-megapixel sensor and a launch price of €5,900. This model will sit between the existing SL3-S, which has a 24 MP sensor priced at €5,190, and the SL3 with a 60 MP sensor costing €6,990. Notably, the SL3-P is based on the Panasonic Lumix S1RII, which was introduced in February 2025, rather than the previous SL3 models. This strategy of utilizing Panasonic technology is not new for Leica, as seen with the Leica D-Lux 8, which is derived from the Lumix LX100 II. While Leica modifies the camera's menu and controls, buyers will still face a significant price premium for the SL3-P. The camera promises improved resolution and faster autofocus compared to the SL3-S, but its video capabilities are reportedly weaker, indicating a focus on still photography.
