Michael Ealy (known for 'Power Book II: Ghost') has been cast as Vin Tanner in MGM+'s upcoming eight-episode drama series 'The Magnificent Seven,' a reimagining of the iconic 1960 Western film. Ealy's character, Vin Tanner, is depicted as a sharp-eyed drifter with a complex past, having spent his early adulthood as a Pullman Porter before joining a gang. The series is set in the tumultuous 1880s American frontier and follows seven flawed mercenaries hired to protect a Quaker village after it faces a brutal massacre by mercenaries working for a land baron. As they prepare to defend the village, the characters confront the moral implications of violence against a backdrop of themes such as honor, sacrifice, and redemption. The series is produced by MGM+ Studios and is expected to start filming in June 2026 in Calgary. Ealy will also be seen portraying Malcolm X in an upcoming Amazon limited series.
