The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has taken legal action by filing a Public Interest Litigation in the Supreme Court of India following the cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 exam due to serious allegations of paper leakage. Dr. Rohan Krishnan, FAIMA's Chief Patron, criticized the National Testing Agency (NTA) for its repeated failures in conducting the examination and called for the resignation of its director on moral grounds. The NEET-UG exam, which took place on May 3, was attended by approximately 23 lakh candidates. The NTA's decision to cancel the exam came after investigative agencies indicated that the integrity of the examination was compromised, with reports of a “guess paper” containing leaked questions circulating via Telegram and other platforms. Investigators suspect that an organized network, particularly in Sikar district of Rajasthan, may be involved in the paper leakage. In response to the situation, the Indian government has referred the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a thorough investigation. The NTA has announced that a re-examination is likely to take place in early June to uphold the credibility of the national testing system.
