The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party has expressed serious concerns regarding a potential mix-up of postal votes between Tiruppattur in Sivaganga district and Tiruppattur district near Vellore, Tamil Nadu. This issue has led the Madras High Court to restrict a Tamil Nadu Vanniyar Katchi (TVK) MLA from voting in the assembly floor test. Currently, the election result shows the TVK's Seenivasa Sethupathi with 83,373 votes and DMK's K R Periyakaruppan with 83,374 votes, indicating a margin of just one vote. If the disputed postal vote is counted in favor of the DMK, it could lead to a tie, necessitating a coin toss to determine the winner. DMK spokesperson Saravanan Annadurai also addressed criticisms regarding Udhayanidhi Stalin's comments on Sanatana Dharma, asserting that the DMK opposes caste hierarchy. Furthermore, he reiterated the party's demand for the abolition of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), citing repeated allegations of exam paper leaks and the stress it causes students. Annadurai criticized the central government's approach to the NEET crisis, likening it to a 'Tughlaq Darbar' situation.
