Bright Way Inter College, a private school located in Jankipuram, Lucknow, has been found to have increased its fees significantly for various classes, with hikes ranging from 5% to 25% for the 2026-27 academic year. This is in direct violation of the Uttar Pradesh Self-Financed Independent Schools (Fee Regulation) Act, 2018, which permits a maximum fee increase of 7.55%. An inquiry committee, comprising local education officials, conducted an inspection and issued a notice to the school on April 29, demanding a response within three days. The investigation revealed that fees for Class 5 rose from ₹3,200 to ₹3,500 (a 9% increase), while fees for Classes 3 and 4 increased from ₹3,000 to ₹3,500 (a 16% rise). Other classes saw similar hikes, with Class 10 fees increasing from ₹4,000 to ₹4,500 (a 12.5% increase). Furthermore, the school allegedly compelled parents to purchase stationery and uniforms from specific vendors, which also contravenes the regulations. The district inspector of schools warned that violations could lead to penalties or even withdrawal of the school's recognition.
