The Miami Edison flag football team, under the leadership of coach Vince Hall, has achieved remarkable success by winning the Class 1A state championship for the second consecutive year. This victory, a 33-12 rout against Somerset Canyons, marks a historic achievement as Edison becomes the first Miami-Dade school to win back-to-back state titles. Hall, recognized as the Miami Herald’s Miami-Dade County Flag Football Coach of the Year, has established a winning culture at Edison, leading the team to seven trips to the state final four since 2017. The Red Raiders concluded the season with an impressive 19-1 record, which included a district championship. Despite the graduation of standout players like Rakyia Louis, who leaves as one of the most prolific passers in the county, and two-way star Malaysia David, Hall retains a strong roster for the upcoming season. “Being the first one to repeat is special,” Hall remarked, emphasizing the significance of their achievement in Miami-Dade history. With a solid foundation, the Red Raiders are looking forward to a potential three-peat next season.
