Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, the Chief of the Indian Navy, is currently on a four-day visit to Myanmar aimed at strengthening maritime security ties. During his visit, he embarked on the Myanmar Navy's frigate, UMS Kyan Sit Thar, and met with senior military leaders, including General Ye Win Oo, Commander-in-Chief of Myanmar's armed forces. The discussions focused on enhancing operational-level cooperation and exploring new avenues for collaboration between the two navies. Admiral Tripathi also visited Myanmar's Naval Training Command, where he handed over military hardware, including a containerized small arms simulator and a rigid inflatable boat, to support maritime security in the Bay of Bengal region. The Indian Navy regularly engages with the Myanmar Navy through various exercises and training programs, reinforcing the strategic importance of Myanmar under India's 'Neighbourhood First' and 'Act East' policies. This visit highlights the shared commitment to a stable maritime environment in the Indian Ocean Region.
