On Friday, two brothers from Lucknow, Abhinav Vajpayee (19) and Abhishek Vajpayee (22), were killed by a lightning strike while trekking on the Chandrashila route near Tungnath, Uttarakhand. The incident occurred during severe weather conditions, which also left two of their companions, Shubham Shukla (25) and Aajan Mishra (24), unharmed. Abhinav died immediately from the strike, while Abhishek was rescued but later died from his injuries at a primary health centre in Ukhimath. The brothers, both students from the Transport Nagar area of Lucknow, had embarked on the trek together. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was alerted about the stranded group and promptly dispatched a rescue team despite the difficult mountainous terrain and adverse weather. After the post-mortem, the bodies were returned to their family members on Saturday.
