Monaz Billimoria, Regional Head for VFS Global, highlighted that these bots create a false sense of limited availability by quickly reserving appointments, which are then resold at high prices. This issue has emerged as demand for travel to Europe surges ahead of the Eid and summer holiday seasons, with visa applications reportedly increasing by nearly 10% year-on-year and 22% since 2022. VFS Global has noted that while some embassies have temporarily suspended operations due to geopolitical tensions, the overall demand for Schengen visas remains strong. To navigate this complex landscape, travel agents recommend that UAE residents begin their visa applications months in advance, ensuring they have a clear travel itinerary. VFS Global also warns against unofficial agents who charge for free appointment slots, urging travelers to be cautious and plan ahead to avoid unnecessary expenses.
