During an event in Nashik, Maharashtra, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis called for a harmonious blend of heritage and development, inspired by the legacy of Rajmata Ahilyabai Holkar. He emphasized that Holkar, who ruled with determination after the death of Malharrao Holkar, was instrumental in reconstructing religious sites and public infrastructure damaged during Mughal invasions. Fadnavis noted Holkar's innovative water conservation methods, including the creation of a separate stream of the Narmada river for daily use, which kept the main river clean. The 'Goda to Narmada' pilgrimage, running from April 25 to 29, aims to honor Holkar's contributions while promoting water conservation and awareness. Fadnavis highlighted Holkar's role in social reforms, including women's education and employment, and stated that her governance model remains relevant today. The Maharashtra government is also focusing on river interlinking projects to ensure a drought-free state, particularly in preparation for the upcoming Kumbh Mela.
