Anil Kumar Sinha, the manager of Bettiah Raj, has formally addressed the Bettiah Circle Officer regarding encroachments on Raj properties in the Vishwamitra market area of Bettiah, Bihar. He highlighted that 202 encroachers have constructed buildings and commercial establishments on land designated under Khasra number 5,238. This letter follows recent efforts to clear 55 encroachers near the Checkpost area on Bettiah Areraj road. Bettiah Raj, one of Bihar's largest principalities, spans 14,251 acres across several districts, including West Champaran and East Champaran. However, much of this land has been encroached upon over the years, with 10,891 encroachers illegally occupying 3,329.12 acres in West Champaran alone. The Bihar government has recently passed a bill aimed at taking control of Bettiah Raj properties for public welfare, indicating a shift towards better management of these lands. Officials have noted the challenges in removing encroachments, especially given the sensitive nature of the issue and the long-standing structures involved.
