Sri Lanka Cricket has announced the reinstatement of Kusal Mendis as captain of the one-day international (ODI) and T20I teams for the upcoming tour of the West Indies. Mendis previously led the ODI squad during the 2023 World Cup but was replaced in 2024. He succeeds Charith Asalanka in the ODI format and Dasun Shanaka in T20s. Meanwhile, Dhananjaya de Silva will continue as the captain for the Test team. The squad for the tour includes two uncapped players: batter Pasindu Sooriyabandara and fast-medium bowler Isitha Wijesundara. Notably, leg-spin bowler Wanindu Hasaranga and fast bowler Eshan Malinga, both of whom were sidelined during the T20 World Cup due to injuries, have made their return to the white-ball teams. However, paceman Matheesha Pathirana will miss out again due to another injury sustained in the Indian Premier League.
