Uber has officially entered the Nepali market, becoming its 11th territory in the Asia-Pacific region. The launch follows over a decade of Uber's presence in South Asia. The platform offers three distinct services: Uber Bike, a motorcycle ride option designed for navigating dense traffic; Uber Go, an affordable compact car service; and Uber Comfort, a premium offering for those seeking a higher-end travel experience. Dominic Taylor, Uber's Regional General Manager for Asia Pacific, expressed enthusiasm about the launch, highlighting that more than 2,000 drivers have already signed up. The US Embassy in Nepal recognized this launch as a pivotal moment for the nation's evolving digital economy, emphasizing it as a sign of confidence in Nepal's growth trajectory. With a focus on the local market, Uber aims to attract tourists from regions where it already operates, such as the USA and India, and plans to compete with both international and local ride-sharing services.
