A Public Interest Litigation has been submitted to the Delhi High Court, alleging the unauthorized recording and dissemination of court proceedings involving Arvind Kejriwal, the former Chief Minister of Delhi. The hearing, which took place on April 13, 2026, was focused on Kejriwal's request for the recusal of Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma in a case related to the Delhi Liquor Policy investigation, which is being pursued by central agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The petition, filed by advocate Vaibhav Singh, claims that the proceedings, lasting approximately 45 to 50 minutes, were recorded without permission and widely circulated on platforms such as X, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. The petition highlights that several political leaders, including Digvijaya Singh and Saurabh Bharadwaj, participated in sharing these recordings, with Kejriwal reportedly reposting certain clips himself. It cites violations of the βHigh Court of Delhi Rules for Video Conferencing for Courts, 2021β and the βElectronic Evidence and Video Conferencing Rules, 2025,β which prohibit unauthorized recordings of court hearings. The petitioner argues that this incident threatens the integrity of the judiciary and seeks immediate removal of the recordings, along with legal action against those involved. The court is expected to hear the matter soon.
