Vijay Kumar Chaube, a resident of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India, has been arrested for allegedly strangling his minor daughter and disfiguring her face with acid due to fears of social stigma regarding her behavior. Chaube, along with his accomplice Abdul Mannan, reportedly dumped the girl's body near the Sharda canal after committing the crime on April 14. Initially, Chaube filed a missing person report on April 16, which raised suspicions among investigators due to inconsistencies in his statements. Following an inquiry, police discovered the body of an unidentified girl in the neighboring Barabanki district, leading to further investigation. Chaube confessed to the crime, claiming they were disturbed by the girl's behavior and feared damage to their social standing. The police have recovered the vehicle used in the crime and are continuing their investigation into the case, which has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Indian Penal Code).
